WS 3 – Multi-sectoral, multi-disciplinary cooperation in maternal health settings

WS3 Objectives:

Strengthen multi-sectoral and multi-disciplinary cooperation (obstetrics/gynecology doctors, midwives, social workers, women’s shelters, and police) in each partner country to increase reporting to specialized services of GBV victims, in maternal health settings during routine pregnancy care.

WS3 Description of work:

Systems analysis to investigate how the decision-making cycle is made on GBV related policies through interviews and content analysis of legal frameworks that currently exists at national level and in the EU with regards to provision support to victims of gender-based violence in the health care setting, e.g. victim protection teams, government level inter-ministerial committees;

Pilot a multi-sectoral, multi-disciplinary Maternity-based Victim Protection Group in 5 maternal health clinics to increase reporting and referral to GBV support services;

Lobbying and advocacy with the government partners for institutional measures, e.g. mandating the multi-sectoral, multi-disciplinary Maternity-based Victim Protection Group at nationally for improved reporting of GBV in maternal health services;

Increase and strengthen collaboration with multi-sectoral partner organizations who offer specialized support to victims of GBV;

Increase and strengthen collaboration with multi-sectoral partner organizations who train students of medicine/nursing/midwivery with regards to tackling reporting of GBV in the health setting.
