RESPONSE Kick-off Meeting Event in Cluj-Napoca, Romania

According to recent studies, women who are survivors of gender based violence (GBV) use health care services more often compared to those who are not victims and identify health care providers as the professionals they would most trust with disclosure of abuse. Taking this into account, the new RESPONSE project coordinated by the Department of Public Health, Babeș-Bolyai University, aims to increase maternal health team GBV disclosure in patients, referral to specialist services and safety planning in 5 geographically diverse EU countries (Austria, France, Germany, Romania and Spain). At the beginning of March (2-3 March) the kick-off meeting took place in Cluj-Napoca. The meeting gave the project partners the opportunity to get in touch and set the next activities that need to be undertaken in order to reach the project’s main outcome of the capacity building activities: After 12 months, the trained maternal health teams will produce 25% higher rates of: GBV disclosure, safety planning and referrals.
